A high quality educational program is offered to all children in South Huntington's elementary schools.  The skills and knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, language arts, technology, health and citizenship education are taught by certified, well qualified classroom teachers.  Specialists are engaged to teach art, music, physical education and library. Special district wide services are available as well: math, ESL reading teachers, a school psychologist, speech therapists, social worker and school nurse.

Classes usually average 22-25 in enrollment.  Individual differences among students are addressed through enrichment, remediation and differentiated instruction.  Field trips, Smart Boards, document cameras, e-clickers and other technological materials are integrated in the regular program.

SBM

Oakwood students are looking and acting S.H.A.R.P. once again this year!  Each class at Oakwood Primary Center has been deemed a SHARP class and shows daily how they are Special, Honest, Accepting, Respectful and Proud.  Our school mascot, Oliver Owl reminds the students each week of ways that they can show they are S.H.A.R.P.  On spirit days (Fridays) the students can show their Oakwood pride by wearing their red Oakwood shirts or any red clothing along with their S.H.A.R.P. AT Oakwood button. Our Oakwood Student Council with representatives from every class is working on recycling.  They are raising funds for special projects suggested by our SBM
