To my fellow classmates: I'm sure most of you have heard scary stories about bats, but bats hardly ever hurt people. They are not harmful. I know you have heard stories about vampire bats and you heard that they suck people's blood, but they only suck animals' blood. They make a little cut and drink the blood from the animals' skin. Did you know that the little brown bat can eat 600 bugs in just one hour? With all these bats eating all those insects, fewer chemicals will be used on crops and that's a healthier life for all of us! Did you know that scientists are studying the saliva from the vampire bat to see if someday a new medicine can be found to help people with heart problems? So please help us save the bats. By Amy |
