| Mrs. Shepherd’s Sixth Grade Language Arts class chose the theme of friendship for its warm winter quilt. The students wrote which quality of friendship was the most important to them, and explained why they illustrated their square as they did. |

My drawing is about a girl who fell off her bike and cut her leg. Her friend came running to help her up and give her a Band-Aid. Like I said, friends are there for you. |

My picture describes friendship because if you are a trustworthy friend, you are like the sun and the moon. The sun and the moon depend on each other because if the sun couldn’t rust the moon, the sun would be up all day long. And if the moon couldn’t trust the sun, the moon would be up all the time in all parts of the world. So, I think a friend is only a true friend if you trust them and they trust you. |

The reason I used the illustration I did, was that all of the drawings have to do with friends caring, and friends being happy for one another. I drew hearts and happy faces because they represent the main parts of friendship. Also, friendship has a lot of colors. |

Enjoying a game with a friend means having fun: playing with your friend, keeping score, sharing comments, sharing the ball, and just getting along together. |

I wrote "Friendship is the Best" because it is. Without friends, how could you live? You’d be so very bored so that’s why I wrote "Friendship Rules." |
|
|
I drew a picture of someone helping his friend in a bad situation. |

A friend is someone who thinks about you. When my friends call me on the phone, I know they care. A friend should always make you enjoy your life. Without friends, life would be sooo boring. A friend should always be trustworthy of your secrets. Sometimes a friend will slip and sometimes will break the ice to someone, but nothing could come between you and a true friend. Finally, to know who you friends are, they are people who never leave you out in the cold, never hurt your feelings, are caring and thoughtful, understanding, funny and protective of your feelings. Your friends care. |

That is the reason why I chose the illustration. If friends that I have are upset, I try to make them laugh or smile. |
|
|
I chose this picture to show happiness: a giant smiling face. |

This picture represents a very good quality of friendship to me. This quality expresses unity, seeing a boy cheering another boy. We should all learn from this and when someone is in need, a good joke can cheer them up no matter who they are. |

I used the illustration I did because the friends are sticking up for each other. The friend I drew is crying. The other friend is running towards him to try to make him feel better. |

Considerate
Being considerate means to be respectful of other’s feelings and to help comfort them. I chose to do this because this really describes me. An example of this is when your friends are sick, you could make them soup or bring them flowers and cards to make them feel better. By Kristen Frances |

I used all different kinds of facial expressions. The different expression I used were: happy, sad, wacky, tongue-out, half-and half, and tearing faces. These are the different types of emotions that might be experienced in a friendship. There can be happy or sad times. But, the most important thing in a friendship is to stand up for your friends no matter what!!! |

I chose to draw two hands together because it shows sticking together through big times and little times. The hands are joined as two friends should be. It shows good friendship. |

I used the illustration I did because it describes what it means to be a friend. A friend would protect a friend in a fight. |

I chose this illustration because it shows that friends always trust one another. That’s why I drew a picture of a girl trusting her friend to take care of her necklace. |

I chose to draw two hands shaking to support the togetherness of friends. |

I chose the illustration that is on my quilt because it shows two girls and one is saying "call me," and the other is saying, "OK." Between them are some years to show that they have been friends for a long time! My illustration also tells that a real friend judges you on the inside and stays that way forever! |
|
|
I chose to illustrate this by drawing many smiley faces, because good friends make each other laugh. |
