| Teachers participated
in a South Huntington summer technology workshop called The Monster
Exchange. This technology based language arts project requires the
participants to draw a monster based upon their imagination. The next step
is to describe the monster using the descriptive writing process which
is taught to the students in South Huntington. A partner then attempts
to artistically replicate the monster, based solely upon the written descriptive
passage.

The Swazway has a large, round black head with two huge black ears with tiny black hairs coming out of them. The Swazway has two purple antennae sticking out of the top of her head. In the middle of the antennae she has brown spikes of hair. Her forehead has 3 purple, vertical wrinkle lines. The Swayzway has 3 eyes, two eyes in the middle of her head and one slightly below the 2 in the center. She has no nose but has a big red round mouth with pointed red teeth that is always open. She has a long, skinny, black neck that is light green. Her body is round and appears to have 3 colors, red, black and light green. She can eat so much because she has 2 sets of light green arms with 6 fingers on each hand. The first set of arms is smaller and they up and the second set are longer and they extend downward. She has 4 green feet that come right out of the bottom of her body. Her feet are a little strange. Two of them are small with four toes and brown toenails. The next set of feet has one long foot and the other one is shorter. |

My head is quite different. My eyes are located at the top third of my head and they are shaped like red stars and are outlined on my face with bold, black circles. I have no nose. My mouth is located in the lower portion of my head, centered to the width of my head. It is in proportion to the size of my head and rectangular in shape. My mouth has seven diamond shaped, pointing downward, purple teeth with a fat, round green tongue which hangs out of my mouth. My huge, oval pink ears are attached to each side of my head. From each ear, long brown ball-like earrings dangle. These earrings help me in my travels. Attached to my narrow
body are my long, green, floppy arms. At the end of my arms are three
carrot shaped, purple fingers. My orange legs are just as lanky as
my arms. I have no feet. Therefore, I don’t walk. I just
flutter my thin arms and legs and move about like a butterfly!

Of course, the OOgle has one large brown curved eyebrow directly over the eyeball centered with the eyeball and the top of the body. Centered at the top of the OOgle’s body are three purple curly corkscrew-like hairs. The mouth is one purple upward curved line centered under the eyeball and the bottom of the body. The OOgle always has a small green tongue hanging from the right side of its mouth. |
